A Word to Ẹgbẹ́ Ilé Iré Ayé

Beloved Omo,

With hearts overflowing and heads bowed in gratitude, we share joyful news with the ones we love and guide. We have been formally installed and crowned as Chiefs of Osogboland, Nigeria.

Baba Sean bears the full title of Chief Sean Christopher Gayle, Máyégún Àṣà of Osogboland. Ìyánífá Elemi bears the full title of Chief Dr. Cheryl Elemi Gayle, Yèyé Máyégún Àṣà. An honour we received not just for ourselves alone, but on behalf of everyone who walks this path with us.

This crown is a covenant. It is a promise to lead with wisdom, to protect our traditions, and to hold each of you a little closer in prayer and in purpose. Everything we are given, we pour back into our family.

Thank you for your love, your prayers, and your presence. We carry your names with us into this new season. 🌿

With all our love and blessings, Baba Sean & Ìyánífá Elemi

The Meaning of the Title

Máyégún Àṣà

The one who upholds order and negotiates peace, as a custodian of Yorùbá culture and tradition.

We serve as the custodians of Osogboland: its legacy, its heritage, and its traditions, while carrying forward the strategic ordering principles of leadership in the modern world, here in the United States, the Caribbean, the rest of Africa, and beyond.
